The Acura SLX was an upgraded and rebadged Isuzu Trooper sold by Acura between 1996 and 1999. The SLX did not do well. The sales figures of the Trooper and SLX continued to fall during the late 90’s and in 1999 Acura finally decided to stop selling their rebadged version of the Trooper. This 2nd generation Trooper got bad media coverage from Consumer Reports for its roll over ratings. .The National Highway Traffic Administration re tested the Trooper and proved Consumer Reports wrong, marking the Trooper and SLX as acceptable.
